We made it

Well we are here. Things went very smoothly with the hotel, through the airport, on the plane, until we arrived in Hermosillo. The rental van we reserved never arrived so we fell back to our original plan which was to take a taxi. I was glad we did. Our driver Martin was very nice, had a wonderful van, and, most importantly, drove cautiously. There was a lot of road work because they are widening the road. This meant some exciting detours, which Martin executed with care.

After we arrived we meet the other high school group, "Realms of Inquiry", and our instructor for a week. His name is Jack and he is a senior at Prescott College. He is working as a Teaching Assistant for a Precott College course that is down here as well. Jack oriented us to the Field station. We had a nice dinner out and went to bed.

Today is our best day weather wise for a boat ride. We will be out for the entire day. More than likely, we will snorkel while we are out.

We will meet at 5:00pm on Saturday to do gear check. We will tie up loose ends, load bus, eat dinner, and depart. We recommend that students who have not finished their powerpoints, meet at 4:00pm to do so. We will be staying at the Sleep Inn DIA.

The phone number of the Field Station is 011-52-662-242-0024. Feel free to call this number in case of family emergency. We may be out is the field so leave a message and we will get it in a few hours.

Students will have limited access to their e-mail.
